Wednesday Respite

"Into the Quiet Stream"
by Cole Scott

This is a photograph of the stream running through our yard.  It really is this green around here especially with all the rain.  The stream wends its way down from what we believe to be the mountains approximately a mile away.  It flows into the Saco River, a fairly substantial river running through our town.  People canoe and kayak and swim in the Saco.  It is mostly calm but flows at a good clip in the Spring with some level 2 rapids.

Another capture of the stream taken several years ago before we moved here.  This was late in the day.

Wow, that's in your yard? (Backyard, I assume?) Too cool.

My uncle's backyard in Florida was bordered by a railroad track. *sigh* I love things like that.

Foxy, yes it's in the back yard and runs along one side of the property, under the town road out front (the downside of this property), through a large wetland out to the main river.

Pierre, thank you. enjoy yours as well!

Brian, my husband took the top photo in bright daylight, something he almost never does but the area is quite dark. I believe he used a filter to make the green pop although, I can assure you, it is very green.

The world is so vast and beautiful and you are fortunate for such clarity of colour in your life.

Its lovely. All I have is a muddy snake ridden creek and I'm not going down there to make it look pretty!

Tanna: It looks like the Forest Primeval which is what I wanted him to call the first shot. He never likes my titles.

Hi Kate! It is. Now, if we could only get rid of the mosquitoes and black flies.

Abe: high praise coming from you. Thanks.

Christine: what a lovely thing to say. Thank you!

Baino: I knew you'd find something funny to comment. :)

What a beautiful yard! Is it Maine? I lived there for 5 1/2 years and marveled at how verdant it was, even if short-lived.

Beautiful! I would love to have this in my yard. the sound, the sights, and the little creatures that go with funning water are great. The only way I get a stream in my yard, is if I leave the hose on... Have yourself a great weekend!
