A Rose Is A Rose

Rose 2008  Cincinnati Flower Show by Cole Scott                                                     Rose 2011 by Tanna

One of my earliest followers, Tanna, has created a watercolor of my husband's photograph of a rose.  I thought it would be fun to post side by side for comparison's sake.  She did an excellent job recreating the shape and movement of the petals.  Visit her blog to see the steps required.

Many of my artist friends create from photographs and the process intrigues me no end.  When I was learning to draw, I would copy pictures in National Geographic.  It is how I learned to draw faces and hands as they captured my interest.

Brian: She did, didn't she? I need to visit your poetry sites.

Tanna: I probably will. I just don't know when. I'll need my vision intact first!

DeeDee: Nice compliments to both artists. As for my being an artist, that was once upon a time long long ago.

The photo alone is magnificent, but putting the two together was such a wonderful idea.

Thanks for sharing.

What an amazing job! I have little or not talent (paining wise), so I'm really in awe of what people can do!

Both are simply gorgeous! I love the photo and Tanna's interpretation of it.

My hubby is planning to follow his dream of learning to paint in watercolors after he retires this fall. I have quite a few of my photos that I would like to see as paintings.
