My husband and I are psyched. We are going to the U.S. Open in Flushing Meadows this year; a To Do we've promised ourselves for the over twelve years we have lived in the northeast.
Tuesday through Thursday we will be soaking up the tennis atmosphere at the Open. We have grounds tickets and can wander about all day, checking out matches on every court except Arthur Ashe. As this is the first week, we should see some pretty good tennis. We have two and a half days there and then off to Newport, R.I. to visit the Tennis Hall of Fame and a mansion or two. School is back in next week for much of the northeast so I don't think we'll be sharing the roads with too many vacationers. I can only hope the weather is good and we get some great photos. I have a new cell phone with superb camera and will now be able to download to my computer. 36 hours from now I am on the road! Woo Hoo!

I wish you good weather and... ENJOY!
nice. i am sure you will have a blast...and lots of "love"...(sorry bad tennis joke)...always fun to do things together. enjoy.
You will love it. I have quite wealthy friends who go to Wimbledon every year, yes every year! They love the atmosphere and if you get up close and personal with Roger, I'll be very jealous.
Minka: haven't seen the forecast yet. holding my breath.
Brian: I had to re-read. Thought you were punning the word "blast". duh.
Baino: No. The one man I fell deeply in love with, the player I would stay up overnight to watch during Australian Open (we get it live in middle of night) was your countryman, Patrick Rafter. I LOVED THAT MAN. What a great player, serve and volley, faster than a speeding bullet. One of the great matches of all time was his beating Andre Agassi (whom I also loved but didn't want his baby or anything) at Wimbledon semis in 1997 (I think). Patrick beat him but went on to lose to Sampras. Never liked Sampras. Too much of a stiff. Aussie Aussie Aussie. My friends in Bermuda live near him and got his autograph for me. I never want or ask for autographs. They just did it. What a guy, what a great background story. I miss him terribly. See? The name Patrick again!
