Summer's End

Wonderful image by Laura Trevey. It's tranquil, a bit wistful and for me, signifies the end of summer. We have three weeks til the official end but school begins next week in New England so, it's unofficially over.

Do people tend to comment on that there as they do here. Like: "Oh, you'll be starting soon, now" - in the middle of August or even sooner? Top the kids AND teachers?

We're starzing chool on Tuesday, 1st.

Same here. The tourists are few, the breeze is a little cool, and the beaches are emptying. Fall is in the air even though we have several weeks.

That painting is so beautiful! School started here last Wednesday. I have people in Kentucky whose kids started the second week of August! That's awful!

My daughter is actually looking forward to school again. She gets a bit bored in the summer. Since I started rehearsals, I'm looking forward to school so I won't have to pay a babysitter as much. Enjoy the final weeks. Ah, fall in New England, I do miss it.

Ah yes, another change of seasons. I have grown to hate the summer heat, but this summer has been mercifully mild here in NYC area. The end of summers bring us flowers at their best, especially sunflowers. Now it's time to look ahead to cool crisp autumn days. And for me, school begins Sept.9. I teach...

All: Thank you for your comments. I am not ready for summer to end as we've seen so little of it in New England. But, the nights are already cooling down to the low fifties/high forties and there is a change in the air, no mistake. I always loved it when the kids went back to school. hahahahaha! Fall in New England is best of all places. Truly awe inspiring. If you haven't been here in the Fall, you must try to come. Beest bet dates: Sept 22-Oct 10 (for peak color).

btw, the painting reminded me of Ted Kennedy's passion and passing.
