Happy Mother's Day

Japonica

Today is Mother's Day. I will get up, make breakfast for my MIL and husband. At 2pm, we shall go to a lovely old 19th century hotel for a sumptuous brunch.  My older son is preparing to travel to Costa Rica. He's just finished another year in college. My younger son is away this weekend so I will not see him. It's just my husband, MIL and I.

I miss my mother. She died in 1997. She would be 95 now and I don't think that would please her. She never wanted to live that long. But I miss her terribly; her wisdom, her patience, her kindness, her acceptance. I am not as good or patient or kind as she was but she did teach me acceptance and love and, for my children, I have that in abundance.

Happy Mother Day to you. The boys will be there in spirit with you. Sorry about your mom and am glad that you had her for so long.

I hope you have a nice brunch but shouldn't you be having "dunch" if you are already cooking breakfast.

Happy Mother's Day.

God bless.

Your mom sounds like she was a good life-teacher, the best mom's are. Happy Mother's Day, CG. I wish you a day of unexpected joys...

I miss my mom, too. She died in 1993 and it is only yesterday to me in some ways, and in others it is forever. Your mother's gifts live on in you, and as you honor her I like to think she knows it somehow.

Happy Mother's Day, cher! Hope that you had a wonderful day. My Mom passed in 2001 and I still and will always miss her terribly.

Be gentle with yourself. Your mother possibly struggled with issues that you might have known nothing about, and may not have considered herself in the same altogether positive light that you do.
You're a kind person, and you're doing the best you can with a difficult situation. Hope your brunch was pleasant.

it's great to have such good memories of your mother! I think every mother would like to leave a legacy like you are describing her.

I hope you got filled up with love on Mother's Day. I missed my mom too (miss), who also died in 1997.

I'm late catching up. Hope it was a good one, shame the kids couldn't make it but hey, it's just a hallmark day, they're good to their mom all year round!

I miss my mom, too. She died in 1987 at age 72. She felt the same way as yours about outliving her usefulness. Unfortunately, it was way too soon for all of us.

XOXO
