The Ostrich
by Ogden Nash
The ostrich roams the great Sahara
Its mouth is wide its neck is narra
It has such long and lofty legs
I'm glad it sits to lay its eggs.

wow! that is a massive egg! going to need a bigger pan for my omelet!
My gg grandfather had an ostrich egg in his curio cabinet. I loved looking at it when I was a girl. Huge!

Great little poem, and that pic is something else!
impressive... (in a way, the name of your blog is egg-related all year round, no?) :-)
Wow that is putting things in perspective!
Happy Easter!
A perfect post.
Fun Nash poem to go with your photo. Thanks.
The world is a richer place because Ogden Nash walked here.
i'd forgotten about Ogden Nash...he's a hoot. That would make a mess of scrambled eggs, wouldn't it?
Great photo to show the comparison,
I have never thought about if an Ostrich sits while laying an egg, but I guess it has to. Although I have seen Ostrich's sitting before.
Great poem by Nash, and thank you for the card it was really cute.
God bless.
That Ostrich egg is large. Cute poem!
Thank you for the Easter card, I really liked it.
Happy Easter!
Hi Cally Girl,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Here I am, looking around.
Wow, what a BIG egg.
Here's a fast riddle:
What did the mamma ostrich say when she laid her egg?
Answer: ouch.
Ha.
Nice meeting you.
Happy TT
Yeah they are huge!Like the pic and poem.Happy Easter!
;)
eggsellent!
I wonder if Ostrich eggs taste any different? When I was little my mom would let me crack eggs for her and I'd get scared and drop the shells in the batter.
I adore Ogden Nash..he is one of the very few who can write a successful humourous poem.
I've seen Ostrich in the zoo, I've seen them in the wild in Africa. I've eaten Ostrich but I've never had an Ostrich egg. They are huge, I'd hate to see a dozen in a box!
I'll need my stock pot to boil that thing! And great Ogden Nash tie in! :)
That Would Feed Me For A Week!
Holy egg Batan!
Love the Ogden Nash poem!...and thanks for the adorable e-card!
Short, sweet and to the point! Glad I'm not a giraffe calf either, they give birth standing up! Love Jaqui Lawson stuff, her Christmas cards are equally gorgeous. Have a happy Easter!
Wow, that's...big.
Is 'narra' a real word?
I'm glad too.
Now that's what I call an EGG! Beautiful texture and sheen!
verification word: hives

you left a comment on the mouse regarding spam comments....
occasionally I have gotten some that sound like what you describe....I delete instantly!! scares me no end as some computer viruses are deadly, what you mentioned about my profile popping up is too weird....and can't figure that out....I also am very reluctant to follow and thread where a commenter says to go to their blog....as in the one from rajesh kumar above....grok....
good luck. I hope our computers are all safe.....
