Advertisers Are Watching YOU

Just saw an amazing story on GMA Saturday about advertising's brave new world. Once the stuff of science fiction, advertisers are finding plenty of alternatives to advertising in the Super Bowl and they'll know alot more about you, your interests, buying habits and more when they are done.

Talk about Big Brother watching. This is scary stuff.

it is so scary what is possible in terms of what others can find out....as one of my studio 'reads' (eg audiobooks) I just finished jeffery deavers 'broken windows' - yikes, if half what he writes about is true it is damned frightening!!!

The LAST thing I want is a seat that will tell me how much I weigh in a public place! Actually the digital advertising phenomenon is really taking off here. I haven't seen any interactive or 3 D screens yet but I guess it's just a matter of time. Also all our buses have advertising on them.

I like to think I'm reasonably immune to advertising ... tho ads are so ubiquitous it's impossible to get through a day w/out something slamming into your head. Viral AIDS, that's what ads are.

So...are we all going to be having 3-D built into our eyeglasses in the future?

I'll bet those smart little scanning devices are really scanning that little microchip that comes embedded in your credit cards and reading your buying habits. Did you know that there are high-tech thieves who have these devices and that is how they steal info from them. A lot of states have them embedded in your driver's license, too. Maybe all. Scary, very scary. We're all going to have to carry our identifiable cards in a lead-lined wallet.

I think it's bad enough that Google reads everything you type into an email and pops up relative ads on the sidebar.

You can see it in your email. I send someone an email about breakfast cereal and then captain crunch ads pop up!
